My home away from home: Room 1614, Wishire Grand Hotel, Los Angeles, CA.
I started this blog a while ago (under much pressure to do so), but have not had the time to post anything. I've been super busy preparing for "Boot Camp," an intense two week training program for my job. Over the course of a year, I took a bunch of prerequisites like classes on Cash Flow, Tax Analysis, etc., as well as two full semesters of additional accounting classes. Finally, on October first I began the final leg of this training. For 14 days straight I slept, ate, and breathed credit and financial analysis. Classes were Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and homework regularly lasted until 1 or 2 am. We didn't have class on the weekends, but worked on case studies from 8am until well past midnight. I left my hotel room maybe 4 times during both weekends. It was, to say the least, exhausting.
Here's me studying late one night.
Kenny, on the other hand, had a great time. My company put us up in suites at the Wilshire Grand hotel in down town LA and gave us pretty generous per diems. So we ate really well at some pretty amazing restaurants. And Kenny enjoyed all the amenities of the hotel and told me how wonderful they were...and I studied.
The good news is that it's over and I can get back to having a life. Hopefully I did well enough to earn a good raise and maybe even a promotion, but if not, it was at least a change of pace for a few weeks. Readers can expect to see more frequent (and hopefully more interesting) posts!
